4/20/2026 fishing report
Today we were joined by channel 13 News in fishing from the port of South Haven. Not only was it a beautiful day but it was our opening day of fishing for the year on lake Michigan and it did not disappoint as we caught 11 cohos and a King Salmon. To start the morning we set up in 50 ft to notice that the water had gotten quite dirty over the last couple days with the wind. With that being said we headed west in search of some clean water. There were a few definite color breaks starting in 140 ft of water which held fish and we continued to cross color breaks clear out to 180 ft taking fish. Overall the best water was 140 to 160 ft our best rods were thin fins 70 ft behind Dreamweaver ninja boards. Seems like they wanted Orange today which is typical with the dirty water. Short blood Run coppers were a close second in adding to our cooler. Dream Weaver super slims in slurpee and magic Man both had a couple bites today also. Rigger bites were 20 and 30 ft down taking a couple bites each on 6 inch orange spin doctors. It seems as if the water is starting to set up and some fish are starting to show up we anticipate it getting better from here on out.
